“But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.” —Genesis 39:19b-23 NIV

Joseph was given a vision of God’s promise at a very young age and interestingly his vision was the very thing that landed Him in a place where fulfillment of the promise seemed impossible. Yet, it was in this very place—the place of the impossible—that God needed Him to be to position him for fulfillment.

I would encourage you to read the entire story of Joseph starting in Genesis 37. It will encourage, inspire and challenge you. Even in the above scripture we can see that though Joseph was in prison He was given favor among the guards. God gave Joseph an opportunity to operate in his gifts and Joseph was faithful with it. Even though it wasn’t what he saw as a young person, he trusted God and remained faithful in the small things. He didn’t allow circumstance to sway him from believing God’s promise for his life.

What has God shown you?

What promises has God made you?

Are you still holding on to His promise for your life?

Or have circumstances caused you to let go a little?

Are you beginning to wonder if God’s promise will come to pass?

Joseph was in prison and though he desperately wanted out he didn’t lose his identity because God had given Him a promise and vision for his life, which Joseph clung to.

Joseph didn’t allow circumstances to cause discouragement even when they seemed to contradict and even hinder God’s promise. His vision gave him hope in all situations. God gave Joseph purpose to sustain him through years of positioning and training. Though prison might seem like the most unlikely of training grounds, for Joseph, it’s precisely what it was.

God reveals to us glimpses of His plan for us, almost like a snap shot from the future, as a way of revealing our destiny. He wants us to trust Him enough to never alow the promise to cause discouragement during our season of positioning and training.

“God is not a man that He should lie.” Numbers 23:19 KJV

There needs to be this knowing deep within our soul that if God showed us a glimpse of His plan then its not a matter of if it will come to pass, but simply when.

He’s developing an unwavering faith and strength inside of you through your season of waiting.

Like David, God desires us to say of Him, “Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken,” Psalm 62:6 NIV.

He does not change and He cannot lie.

So don’t allow fear or discouragement to keep you from stewarding the dream and promise for your life. As I said in a couple of previous devotionals, our dreams are watered in the secret place and we are to be faithful stewards of all that God gives us through prayer, fasting, and obedience.

Don’t allow doubt to devalue the word of the Lord in your life! Cling to God’s promise as a done deal in the story written about you in the library in heaven as you await the fulfillment on earth.

Grab hold of His promise for your life and cling to it regardless of what circumstances may look like today God doesn’t lie so therefore what He showed you will come to pass, period.

I love you!

Krissy

P.S. How can I be praying for you today?
