“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” —John 16:32 NIV

Jesus never promised us a life free from trouble. In fact, He did just the opposite. He acknowledged that we would face much trouble in the world. But thankfully He didn’t leave it at that. He says, “take heart—be encouraged—I have over come the world!” This is good news friend. The Son of God overcame the world so that we could be at peace regardless of circumstance… but we must choose peace.

The Greek word for peace in our scripture is eirḗnē, from eirō, which means “to join, tie together into a whole“. Jesus is offering us wholeness here friend. In the scriptures prior He had been discussing His wholeness with the Father stating that He is never alone because He and the father are one. Jesus was whole in God just as we are whole in Christ! So though we will face trouble in this world Jesus gives us wholeness in Him! Therefore, just as Christ overcame the world we now live the life of an overcomer through Christ as we are one with HIm… wholeness.

Each day when we are faced with trouble we can either let it get the best of us as we are overcome with fear, anxiety, pain, etc. OR we can choose to live as an overcomer through Christ not allowing circumstance to get the better of us.

This is tough!

I get it. I have to make this choice each and every day myself. But the more I do it the easier it becomes. I have found that giving into fear and worry only brings about deeper feelings of fear and worry! There is never any solution or resolve. But when I choose to rise above circumstance and cling to Truth—the truth that I am an overcomer through Christ—then I begin to soar above circumstance knowing that God is going to bring me through.

God promises us peace. He promises us that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength (Phil. 4:13). The Bible is filled with the promises of God and its vital that we get in there and begin to meditate on His promises for us.

Know what He’s promised you friend!

Become intimately acquainted with all God’s promises!

It’s then that you’ll be able to find peace when you’re facing a storm because you know who is in control.

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” —2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV

ALL of God’s promises are Yes in Christ and AMEN as we come into agreement.

God’s promises become complete in us when we agree and don’t doubt.

Choose peace today. Regardless what your circumstances say. Choose joy. Choose life. Choose Him.

Jesus chose peace when He was on the boat with the disciples and a fierce storm arose. He knew no harm would come to Him or the disciples because He trusted God. His trust ran so deep that Christ was able to fall fast asleep in the stern of the boat (Mark 4:37–39)! He even curled up with a pillow! That’s choosing peace if I ever saw it friend.

So today grab your pillow and curl up in the arms of peace as you choose to rest in your identity as an overcomer in Christ knowing that God is going to bring you through this storm you’re in. He’s a good Father and He cares so deeply for you.

I love you,

Krissy

P.S. How can I be praying for you today?
