Have you ever been plagued by the thought, “I’m just not enough”? This feeling of inadequacy is something many of us grapple with, a nagging sense of falling short that often holds us back. But what if we could reframe this sense of inadequacy, not as a negative, but as an opportunity to grow and trust in God’s plan for us?

The Reality of Inadequacy

Throughout different seasons of life, I’ve often felt inadequate, especially when faced with tasks that seemed bigger than me. This feeling, I’ve come to realize, is not something to be ashamed of but rather a reminder of our human limitations and the need for divine guidance.

My Journey with Writing

When I began writing my first book, “Created for the Impossible,” I was confronted with these feelings of inadequacy. Despite the bold title, I was filled with self-doubt. But it was through the process of writing that I started to overcome these troublesome mindsets. I learned that God doesn’t ask for our perfection, but for our willingness to trust Him and move forward.

Overcoming the Mindset of Not Being Enough

Each morning, as I struggled to write, thoughts like “You’re not enough, Krissy,” would try to discourage me. It was challenging to push forward, but I realized that this feeling of not being enough was sort of the point. If I were to write a book to bring about real transformation, it couldn’t just be about me being enough – it had to be about something greater.

A Revelation that Changed Everything

One morning, as I moved through my routine, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper, “God thinks you can do anything.” This statement, which I had heard from Marilyn Hickey years before, struck me deeply. It was God’s opinion of me, a thought higher than my own self-doubt. This realization shifted my perspective, helping me understand that it’s not about my ability to become something, but about the spaces within me where God can work His will.

The Wall of Shame and How It Falls

Shame, often manifesting as a feeling of “I’m not enough,” is a lie that can hold us back. But God’s Word tells us a different story. We may all fall short, but that’s precisely why Christ came to save us. He didn’t come because we deserve it, but as part of God’s redemption plan.

Believe What God Says About You

As we move forward, let’s remember what God says about us. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). This is an empowering teaching. It reminds us that our gaps, our inadequacies, are spaces for God’s power to fill and operate through us.

Applying This Truth

I invite you to join me in embracing this truth. Where you feel lacking, remember that Jesus is more than enough. Receive His gift of living water and the promise that His power is made perfect in your weakness. Write down the areas where you feel you are not enough, and then overwrite them with “Jesus is more than enough.”

Prayer

Thank You, Jesus, for demolishing the power of shame on the cross. Help me to believe what You say about me. I embrace Your love, power, and joy, knowing that I was worth dying for. Bring me into the presence of God, for He deserves what You died for – me.

As we say goodbye to the wall of shame, let’s step forward, trusting that in our weaknesses, we find God’s greatest strength. Let’s move forward, believing that, though we are never enough on our own, through Christ, we are more than enough.

Your sister in Christ,
