Day 2

“The people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.”

Luke 8:35, NIV

This man found peace at the feet of Jesus. Once filled with demons to the point of insanity, isolation, and depravity was now totally set free by the power of God through the Son of God, Jesus Christ. There’s just something about the procession of events here. The people of the town came to Jesus and when they found Jesus, they found the man—free, clothed, in his right mind, and sitting at Jesus’ feet!

I wept as I read this today friend. A once insane man filled with chaos now totally free and in his right mind and what does do? He sits at the feet of Jesus.

What’s more is that in verse 28 it says when the man first saw Jesus he fell at his feet… filled with chaos this man fell at the feet of Jesus! And what proceeds is the picture of what happens when we bring our chaos to the feet of Jesus—total freedom!

This man found peace at the feet of Jesus!

In an instant every burden, every fear, every bit of pain, isolation, rejection, persecution, and desolation he had been experiencing for so long had been totally lifted from him! In His chaos he was drawn to the feet of Jesus where he now found peace. He didn’t want to leave Him. As you read further it says the man begged to go with Jesus but Jesus commanded him, “Return home and tell how much God has done for you,” (vs. 39).

What a testimony this man had to share of the power of God and the fruit of finding peace at the feet of Jesus! The weight of the enemy now totally removed, cast into the waters. This man sat feeling refreshed and revived drinking from the well of the Living Water flowing from Christ Jesus Himself and his soul was watered.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7, NLT

FRIEND, there’s just something about the feet of Jesus isn’t there? Something about the access we have to lay our burdens down at His feet and leave them there. Exchanging our chaos for His peace. Our pain for His presence. What a picture of the beautiful new normal we have in Christ as a new creation. Clothed in grace, love and righteousness through faith (Rom. 3:22). Able to bring all of our mess, all of our baggage and lay it all down there at His feet and find peace.

TODAY: Spend time at His feet today laying down all your worries, anxieties, pain, chaos in exchange for the incredible peace of God found at the feet of Jesus today friend.  Allow His peace to refresh and water your soul.
