I had just written a text to my mom to thank her for something she had done to help me with my son. What I intended to write was this, “It’s been a massive ‘help’ so far!“ but my phone auto corrected the word help and instead of a “p” put “L” so suddenly the text read, “It’s been a massive hell so far!”

Woah! What a difference in meaning one little letter can make!!! It took my original message and with just one letter completely shifted the intended meaning!

Friend, this is what the enemy does with the Truth. . . with just one little letter he can confuse truth and totally warp God’s original intended meaning. We need to be so careful friend!

Thankfully as believers we have the Holy Spirit in us. We are to test the spirits… take what is good… get rid of the rest (1 Thes. 5:20-21)! If someone says something to you and it sounds good but you get that check in your spirit take it to God in prayer. Don’t just blindly accept everything people say. Especially in this hour we are living.

Friend, we’ve got to know the truth so that the Truth can set us free! Many of us walk around so twisted up in deception we’re bound and don’t even realize it.

What’s the antidote?

Go after God.

Seek Jesus.

Know the Truth!

“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'” John 8:31-32

Allow your faith in God and your love for the Lord to launch you deeper into His word. Get to know the heart of God by knowing the truth. Then, when you hear the enemy’s counterfeit truth you’ll be able to spot it from a mile away!

In the process you’ll get freedom from the grip of deception you may be walking in even now!

There was a season when Donovan and I allowed some people to speak into our lives and what they were saying didn’t line up with the word of God. We were just coming back to a deeper relationship with God at the time so we didn’t question it; but inside we could tell something wasn’t quite right.

Thankfully Donovan and I spent time in the word of God, time in the presence of God and allowed the spirit of God (Jn. 16:13) to reveal Truth to us! From here we were able to simply walk away from the deception, gain freedom in our own hearts and move forward with a deeper understanding and appreciation for TRUTH! Now, we aren’t so quick to trust every word spoken into our lives if we feel a check in our spirit. We test everything and keep what is good!

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

The enemy prowls about seeking whom he may devour… through one false word… or even one misused letter as I mentioned earlier… the enemy’s agenda is to devour and he does this through deception.

Something the Holy Spirit stirred in my heart as we’ve continued to seek the Lord and know truth was this:
Deception is only deceiving because it’s laced with truth. If it didn’t have some element of truth it would be a flat out lie. And lies are easier to spot.

So be alert friend! Seek the Lord. Draw near to Him! God doesn’t just want you to know about Him, He wants you to know Him. Jesus is TRUTH!

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” —John 14:6
